Beethoven – tote bag

To make some noise about our 10th anniversary, we have released a collection of limited edition t-shirts and tote bags that draw their inspiration from 1980s and 1990s band t-shirts. Our designs celebrate the mega stars of classical music.

Taking its cue from one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most famous works, this tote bag shows the composer bathed in moonlight. Though the aesthetic clearly plays on a heavy metal look and the illustrator Jussi Pohjanen is an aficionado of the genre, he says the inspiration for this design actually came from an altogether different source:

“The iconic eighth episode of Twin Peaks: The Return has a scene with the Moonlight Sonata playing in the background, slowed down to a quarter of the normal tempo. I imagined a stern and severe-looking Beethoven, as seen in this tote bag, composing and performing exactly that kind of music, bathed in a weak moonlight.”
